Amazing Easter Holidays
On Saturday 13th April, the bus picked me up at the Mannheim Planetarium and we started our journey to Weymouth in the south of England. All children participating in the English speaking holiday were sitting on the bus. Catharina and I were the last to board.
It was a long and exhausting bus trip over night until 6 o´clock in the morning. We took the ferry from Dünkirchen (France) to Dover. We were one hour ahead with the time difference when we arrived in Great Britain. After 6 more hours on the bus we arrived in Weymouth, where our host parents were waiting for us. They took us to our new homes for the next two weeks.
The next day school started. Every day we had school in the mornings and sightseeing trips in the afternoons. I visited Bath, the Cheddar Caves, Weymouth, the Weymouth cinema, Portland, Durdle Door and even spent two days in London. London was amazing! On the first day we visited Madame Tussauds and on the second day we made a tour through the city. We went to the National History Museum, walked through Hyde Park and stood in front of the Buckingham Palace. We also visited the most famous department store in the world – Harrods.
My host parents were called Mel and Ray Saunders. They live in Chickerell, Weymouth. They have a very pretty little house with a garden and two dogs called Lilly and Molly. I stayed there with Catharina. Mel and Ray are very nice and crazy people. The meals at their house were very tasty and so were the packed lunches we got every day.
After 13 days it was time to go home to Germany.
I had really, really enjoyed my trip to England and I found lots of new friends.
